Watched a rather depressing episode of CSI: Las Vegas (S3x17, 'Crash and Burn') with my friend today. A grandmother had colon cancer, but her health fund wouldn't approve or deny her surgery, so she was in a sort of limbo that she couldn't appeal. So she got her grandson to program the address of the health fund into her GPS, and got him to promise her that he'd go back to college once he could afford it. She then drove to Vegas, in order to smash her car into the HF, and have her grandson get her life insurance money, which she left to him.

The tragic part was that she actually crashed it into a restaurant on the other side of the health fund (the GPS took her to the wrong side), killing three people, instead of the actual building, and because the insurance company ruled it to be suicide, the grandson couldn't get the money to go to college.

I dunno, it just struck a nerve with me. I have a weakness for depressing stories about old ladies. Guess it makes me think of my grandmothers, and how I never want to see them sad like that. Idk.

Well, it motivated me to do well in my exams, anyway, which are coming up pretty fast. Got my Chemistry exam in a week, followed by Mathematics for Scientists and Engineers (yes, that's the title) then Thermodynamics/fluids, and finally Process Analysis. Shitting myself over math, but everything else shouldn't be too bad.

Had our engineering break up party last night, which basically translates to cheap drinks and lots of drunkeness. Add in the costume theme of cartoon characters (I went as Daria, lol) and it was a pretty epic night. Considering the male to female ratio, let's just say I was hit on a lot, which was amusing. Nearly ended up making out with a guy dressed as Tintin, which would have been interesting, and possibly detrimental to my childhood. Stfu, he was cute, and a 4th year, ok. Probably should have gotten his number, fffffff.

Nothing much else to report; still keen for the pokemanz, playing GPX, and trying not to procrastinate too hard.

In other RL news, I have spent the last week moving into college and undergoing initiations, which involved being woken up at 4am to run to all the other colleges and scream warcries, having water dumped on me numerous times, being forced to wear a stupid hat EVERYWHERE that said my stupid nickname, and having to do an embarassing dance to 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga whenever the song came on.

It came on A LOT.

In moar srs news, my country fails atm, due to the fact the north is underwater and the south is on fire. Being a northerner, I am quite annoyed about this, because the highway that leads to where I'm moving in 4 FUCKING DAYS is blocked off, so nothing can get through, including food and all that essential shit.

No srsly, I went to the grocery store and there were no vegetables or fruit. At all. It was kind of scary, really.

Anyway, I'm set to fly, so it's not so bad.

Also, watched 'Red Eye', which was excellent (Cillian Murphy asdljasdkjaslkdj). Also saw 'Underworld 3' again, and baaaaw'd at Viktor because he made me sad with his angst.

Also watched 'A Clockwork Orange', which was fucking brilliant. What an amazing film. I recommend all of you who are 18+ (it's R18+ here lol) to watch it, and those of you who aren't to watch it too, because it's really not that bad apart from the sex and nudity. And the main actor is strangely attractive, but maybe that's my weird-ass kinky side talking.

Anyway, my mum is yelling at me to gtfo, so I'll sign off here.

I'm so classy when it comes to titles.

So I like saw Transporter 3 tonight, and it was lulzy and action packed and brainless, which was excellent. Hadn't seen the first two, but it really didn't matter at all.

Also saw Underworld 3 last week, which was epictastic, because Viktor/Bill Nighy is awesome and I kind of wanted to cry during SPOILER (I'll tell you in the comments if you've seen it).

Ok, so I'm trying to go to the bathroom before Transporter right, and I shut the bathroom door and there's this bigass Underworld poster on the back, featuring Bill Nighy in all his Viktor-y glory glaring at me. While I'm trying to go to the toilet. Srsly, it was fucking unnerving, because he kind of looks disapproving and it looks like he's watching you with this '>8|' face and I'm all 'D8' and I..couldn't really do anything because it was so weird.

(I ended up going, but staring at the floor the whole time and yes TMI thank you very much Typhlogirl)

I've been really ill for the past few days (pharyngitis =/= fun), so I've been reading my manga collection to keep myself entertained and distracted from the burning in my throat. My collection isn't that big; it consists of;

- 10 volumes of Neon Genesis Evangelion (with 1 more coming)
- 8 volumes of Trinity Blood (with 1 more coming and 1 preordered)
- 2 volumes of Excel Saga (the anime is far superior, don't bother with it)
- 1 lonely volume of Revolutionary Girl Utena (I bought it in America; can't seem to find it over here)
- 2 volumes of the Return to Labyrinth manga (I have a distinct feeling this might have been discontinued; what a shame)
- And 3 volumes of Fruits Basket

I used to be really into Fruits Basket a few years ago (in my shoujo-y 14/15 yo stage), but I like to think I've moved on from it, but now, after reading the 3 volumes I own, I'm having to fight a huge battle in order not to become re-addicted to it. I even purchased the 4-disc DVD boxset, and would be watching the episodes now but I lent it to a friend last March (yes, last March, SHUT UP I KEEP FORGETTING TO ASK FOR IT BACK).

So I guess the point of this entry is to say I don't want to get readdicted to Fruits Basket.
